Many know Pierlite as a supplier of general lighting products through the electrical wholesale trade. It is certainly true that Pierlite is one of the main suppliers that dominate this part of the lighting industry, however not so many are aware of the substantial growth the company has gone through since the late 1980’s when it changed hands through the Gerard Industries purchase of the Wilco group.
Pierlite was established in the 1940s, and did originally make Pier Lights as part of the company’s original business. This grew and the company was recognised for its expertise in hazardous and adverse location luminaires. Over time Pierlite has subsequently grown to become Australia’s largest lighting manufacturer and is renowned for quality, technical performance, support and service.
We are proud to be able to provide the best possible lighting solutions for any situation and we are committed to the constant improvement of our extensive lighting range. A range that includes extensive industrial, commercial fluorescents, floodlighting, architectural streetlighting and garden lighting.
Pierlite is QA certified to ISO 9001 and all products sold by Pierlite comply with mandatory C-Tick and CISPR requirements for Electromagnetic Interference.
Dedicated to Australian Manufacturing
A substantial amount of Pierlite’s product range is manufactured in Pierlite’s Padstow factory in Sydney, the largest plant of its type in Australasia, occupying an area of over 15,000 square metres and employing over 400 people.
Lighting manufacture, particularly fluorescent commodity lines, was always considered a fairly easy product for ‘tin bashers’ to get into. It is this relative ease of manufacture that has allowed commodity suppliers in Asia to gain a foothold here, particularly in the past few years. The temptation to compete by reducing the quality of components is one path. However Pierlite have chosen to fight this battle by investing substantially in technology to assist in production and to resist the temptation to import commodities from low cost countries. Pierlite is a proud member of the Australian made campaign, the logo features prominently on items made here.
Typical of the Pierlite’s investment is ALF, nickname of Australia’s and the southern hemispheres first robotic luminaire-wiring machine. Short for Automated Luminaire Fabrication, our 2 ALF machines tirelessly wire a wide range of Pierlite’s battens, weatherproof fittings, and vandal proof products. ALF offers 100% reliable wiring and complete testing, using the latest wiring technology from Europe. Pierlite is in the company of the world’s best suppliers having two of the 30 ALF’s now in existence. Chances are that you have seen one of ALF’s products already.
Import Replacement
